The most common type of Google Ads ad is the search ad network, which appears on the search engine results page (SERP) for searches relevant to the advertiser's products and services, but businesses also use Google Ads to serve display ads, shopping ads, YouTube ads, etc.

Google Search Ads

Below is an example of a Google SERP containing ads. There are two sections of paid results: one above the unpaid or organic results and one below.

Google Display Ads

As mentioned above, you can also run display campaigns that run on the Google Display Network, a large set of external third-party websites that have agreed to serve Google ads. Google display ads can be text, image, video or rich media and can be targeted differently, for example via audiences and remarketing.

Google Shopping Ads

Google Shopping ads appear in both the standard SERP and the Shopping tab. These ads work differently than traditional search ads because you can't target keywords. Instead, keep a detailed catalog of your products and Google will take care of it. match them to searches. However, you can tell Google which keywords you do not want your ads to show.

YouTube Ads

Since Google is the owner, YouTube advertising is done through Google Ads. You can create video, text, or display ads that appear during and before videos and elsewhere on the platform. YouTube ad targeting works the same way as display targeting. As YouTube Ads done through Google Ads, it is the best way to promote your video content on YouTube or in search results to maximize your reach. It could be your video playing before one user sees another's video, or YouTube search results showing up completely.
